In addition to the Rules of Professional Responsibility, government attorneys and their clients are bound by additional layers of laws and regulations governing their conduct at the federal, state and local levels. The ethics analysis regarding issues including conflicts of interest, gift giving and receiving, identifying the client of the government attorney, financial disclosure, honoraria and travel reimbursement, and attorney-client confidentiality in the public sector differs from similar situations in the private sector.
This downloadable audio program offers participants an advance glimpse at the many topics covered in the forthcoming Second Edition of Ethical Standards in the Public Sector (2008). Topics to be covered include ethics for local government attorneys, local government enforcement programs, financial disclosure for public officials, and the current status of the government attorney privilege.
Panelists include current and former government lawyers, and who have contributed to the second edition of the book. Following formal presentations and discussion among the panelists, a Q & A session will provide everyone with the opportunity to participate.
